Any Good/Fun/Powerful NEcro Builds?
I'm in sort of a "NecroDepression" in which I mean I haven't played my necro in months. Reason being that he's is just to repetitive/boring. I mean MM is always summon and heal and watch....etc etc. Then SS is decent but does not always fare well. I'm am now interested in new builds for my Necro (as stated in Title) that I can enjoy and actually PWN. Please post builds if you are feeling generous enough .
Thank You!

You realize.... with any build, you are only going to do a small amount of repetitive actions over and over again right? So Summon -> Heal isn't really anything out of ordinary.

There are blood spike builds somewhere in the builds thread. Very repetative, cast, cast, cast, etc.
I like using my N/Me - Curse + Domination or Blood + Illusion builds.

i like my discord build
discord (elite)
enfeeble
parasitic bond
those are the basic things that i like to use in the build. as for the other five skills, i would probably recommend something along the lines of, dececrate enchants, or some antimelee stuff. Maybe an interrupt or a rez.

meleemancer.
use a sword or axe (make sure its doing physical damage) with flurry, mark of pain and SS. the rest of the skills dont really matter, but defensive stances are good.
P.S. you dont really have to use ss im just to lazy to cap anything els.

The key thing to remember is that after playing Guild Wars for a certain period of time, there will never be any sort of "uber epiphany". You will not slap on a certain build and start laughing and getting extremely excited, jumping out of your seat, and all the extreme over-reactions people in commercials do while playing video games.
And it is not just Guild Wars, I will now summarize every video game ever made: "stare a screen, input commands with keys/gamepad, watch images on the screen correspond to your input. Repeat."
If something isn't fun, and you are trying to have fun, do something else. Either a different build, a different class, PvP instead of PvE, or a different game even. Or try doing something in real life, books, physical activity, social interaction, art, music (listening or creating).
There are alot of options, but you will almost never find some sort of extreme happiness or bliss like is portrayed in fiction. And this is the kind of happiness we all think we are *supposed" to have, and all the time. Sometimes life just stinks, just do your best and ride it out. You'll come out stronger because of it.
yikes, ahem, sorry about all that text. I have been writing my college thesis and my brain is still stuck in writing mode.
cheers

Ya thats a fun build to use.
Occasionally I use a dark aura/Grenths balance build that works pretty good. Cast dark aura and just start using your sacrafice skills then cast demonic flesh to boost your hp a bunch + loose alot of hp then immediatly cast GB on a full health target and it does alot of damage and works great for spikes. I actually used this vs glint and we pwned her.
Only downside is that this requires getting into melee range which is usually not to good of an idea as a necro. Maybe get Warrior as a secondary and bring some stances if you want to do this build.

IMO Anet over nerfed the Necro years ago, my first character was a Necro (who has beaten prophecies, and is almost finished the other 3 games), but compared to my Ranger/Monk/Warrior is a much harder character to play.
You have no idea how pissed off I am when I struggle to complete a mission with my Necro, then walk the mission with my Ranger, pretty much going C -> Space -> Skill (usually splinter/barrage) -> rinse and repeat.
Again IMO they are useable PvE Necro builds, but nothing overly powerful ...

I found a build off of guildwiki a while ago that i loved for a little while.
vampiric spirit, dark aura, masochism, blood of the agressor, and dark pact are your main skills. your other 3 skills can be whatever you want really. you could go sin secondary and use siphon speed for a snare. signet of lost souls is a good alternative too
what you do is put up masochism, dark aura, and vampiric spirit in that order. Then, get close adjacent to soembody and span blood of the agressor and dark pact. your target will be hit with damage from: vampiric spirit, dark aura, and dark pact/blood of the agressor. since your stealing life and hitting 3 times everytime you use BoTA/dark pact, it goes through protective spirit pretty well. It's kinda energy intensive though. and the health sacrifice can be annoying but it's a nice build.

Fuzzy Taco, SS has been nerfed very badly, as has Soul Reaping as has being a MM (remember the no 8 minion limit?)
The builds are not unusable, but certainly weaker, and less effective in a lot of scenarios.
Actually took the enfeeble/Virulence/epedemic/necrosis/fragility build for a spin ... not bad, things seem to go down a lot quicker than some standard curses builds.

1st off, the minion limit is 10, assuming you're using maximum levels of death magic. 2nd, SS hasn't been nerfed badly at all. if you're talking about the AoE flee nerf, that's long gone, and we've gotten around it. SS is still unmatched for the raw damage it deals when applied correctly. also, Soul Reaping has been nerfed, but it's still very powerful in its current form. enough so, anyway, that entire builds can be made using it as their only energy management, like my own Glimmer necro and the many N/Rt resto healers floating around today.

People claiming necromancers are useless because SR has been nerfed make me laugh. Yes, SR has been nerfed, and it was an ugly nerf at that. The first nerf was a disaster. The second is simply ugly. That said there is no stronger PvE class in the game.

MIght not the the most powerful, but necros can adapt to -everything- ATM. There are N/E nuker builds, N/Rt restauration builds... you can tank easily with N/D AotL MM build, and there's always the traditional stuff. I play FoC a lot these days (suffering+arcane echo+FoC = mass dmg); there's also death nukers, Icy Vein necros... and one of my friends ran a weird Toxic Chill spike that was nice.
After over 2 years, still my fav class to play .
